12/17/2018 Feliz Navidad 🎄

Buenoooooooo!!

Highlights of the Week:
-We had a lesson with Aldo about the ten commandments, it was a good lesson and we tried teaching him how to use facebook messenger for video chats over the phone but after 20 minutes we gave up, he is gonna need some professional help! Afterwards while we were standing there chatting these two grown men skip right by us in rainbow tye dye bear onsies. It was probably one of the funniest things ive seen all week!

-We put Aldo on date for baptism this week aswell and he is so excited! We just have to meet with him more in person so we can teach him all the lessons. We read with him every night in the Book of Mormon and he is coming a long ways with it!

-We had our Branch Christmas party, this time it was just the spanish branch. We had posole, and flautas (it was the greatest dinner of my life!), then the Niños put on a Nativity for everyone. It was very precious, and fun watching them act out Luke chapter 2.

-Saturday it was 50 degrees outside and it felt like summer, it was the greatest thing ever. We tracted a good portion of the day and met so many cool people!

-Last night we were heading to Presidente Martinezs house, and about halfway there we noticed the Elders were right behind us, anyways to make a long story short we decided to see who got there first! Me vs. Elder Smith. As we pulled up to the street we didnt know what house it was so Hermana Norton got out of the car and started running so we could see the house numbers, haha it was so funny!! She ran a good block and a half, but its all good because we found the house and beat the Elders! #HermanasfortheWIN

-We had a Noche de Hogar last night with the Díaz family and we talked alot about this weeks christmas them #Lightyourfamily, they brainstormed some great ideas on how they can bring the spirit of Christ into their home, and how they can serve one another. It was fun hearing all their thoughts!

I love this time of year so much, and hope you all have a FELIZ NAVIDAD!

12/10/2018 The Ugliest Sweater

Bueno!

I hope you all had an amazing week, I know we did!

Christmas Breakfast:
The Spanish Branch and English Ward ended up combining for a Christmas Ugly Sweater Breakfast. Id have to say they planned it out perfectly, the spanish branch brought the food and the english ward out together the decorations and program, it was quite fun. We had someone we are teaching come with her family (her name is Mirium) and they have the cutest little boys ever! It was a great turnout overall, and Hermana Norton and I got second place for our "ugly sweater"! Everyone thought it was hilarious!! Lets just say our companionship unity is very strong!

Sunday Adventures:
Thursday night we got a text asking if I could speak on sunday! I dont think ive ever had more than two days of a notice on my mission when I am asked to give a talk. Luckily ive learned how to prepare some pretty quick ones, so two days is all I need I guess! I spoke on the Book of Mormon and focused on the talk given in last general conference called "La función del Libro de Mormón en la conversión" Por el Élder Shayne M. Bowen. Then shared some things from President Nelsons talk given in the Womens General session. Overall it went well, and I learned a lot of great things I can add in my teaching when sharing the Book of Mormon with others.

As Hermana Norton says "The Holy Ghost is our member present" we had such amazing lessons this week with everyone we have been teaching, it was amazing to be apart of it! We brought Hermana Pacas to a lesson with Teresa and it was the best thing ever, Teresa is so excited about the gospel! We have amazing people that we are teaching and it is so fun to be apart of their journey!

Well I hope you all have another great week!

12/3/2018 Joliet

Buenooooooo,

Joliet:
Welp, one thing that hasnt seemed to change between areas is that I still play the piano in scrament. Looks like ill have to start learning how to play the christmas songs! This branch is straight up awesome though, it is also SO close to turning into a ward! Its gonna happen soon, I know it (: Presidente Martinez is awesome aswell, he is actually a convert of 5 years and was baptized in Chi 5 (my last area), so it was fun hearing about all the members he knew and everything. Im excited to be here and for this new adventure. We have been teaching some amazing people and families here.

Hermana Norton:
She is the sweetest human being ever, I seriously love her! So she is basically from CANADA!! (but lived in Indonisa, Panema, and her family is currently living in Las Vegas), and has been on her mission for almost 6 months. Theres always so much to talk about, and we obsess over the things in Canada (Tim Hortons, parogies, Canadian candies, the accents, west edmonton mall, penticton, the beautiful land... ect) it has been so much fun!! She does say "Eh" all the time though, so we will see if I pick up on that one...

Luis:
He is a brother of someone that the Hermanas have been teaching here for a while, we just started teaching him last week and I am so excited to keep working with him. He is 27 and wants to be an author. While reading the Book of Mormon this last week he took some good notes and pointed out a lot of things he learned about faith. He is so insightful, and has a strong desire to learn more. Rather than it being more of a lesson it seemed like a descussion, and by the end he was testifying of faith, and the importance of having works with that faith. It was so cool to be apart of it!

Teresa:
She is a member referral from Hermana Pacas (who makes the BEST papusas ever!!), we stopped by this week and she immedietly let us in. I was like awesome! We got to know her a little bit and then transitioned super well into the 10 HTBT points found in PMG, then into the message of the Restoration. It was the first time Hermana Norton and I taught together, and it went so well! The companionship unity is there, it was great! Teresa loved it and by the end was basically testifying about prophets and how it is important to have living prophets that guide us today. We are excited to go back this week (:

Crazy Lady:
A funny moment of the week was when we were tracting, we were walking down the street and this lady was out side talking on the phone, so I just gave a friendly wave and she goes "Hey youre Mormons right?", we were like "Yeah!" Then went in to talk to her. We chatted for a second then somehow we started speaking spanish and immedietly she goes "oh, come in!". Once again I was like awesome! We taught her and her friend Manuel who was so intrested, but she wasnt that intrested and instead gave us a referral to go teach her daughter so her grandson can grow up in a church!

Car troubles:
Sooo I now have a car again, we have a Red 2017 Toyota Rav 4 and its pretty good I dont mind it, but the other day our light went out. (Which is like the easiest fix ever!) But since we are missionaries and these are mission cars we arent allowed to do mantinece on them so we had the call Elder Kuhns and drive all the way up to the mission office to get him to fix it! It was like a 3 hour round trip just for a 2 second repare. But hey now we have light!

Phone troubles:
After we got back from the mission office our district leader called us and we were just going over some highlights of the week so far. Well after we go off on this long rant we wait for a response and nothing happens! So we try turning on our phone but it didnt work! It freaking died!! We were like "darrrrn" so we tried charging it, but little did we know it would never turn on again!!! Luckily Hermana Norton has a phone so we just put the sim card in hers, but none of the contacts were saved to the sim card! Yeah rough life. Anyways it was just the battery that doesnt work anymore so we have to wait to get a new one, and in the mean time we borrowed the elders battery so we could get some contacts off our phone. Its been an adventure.

All is well here,

I hope you have a great week Lighting the World!

11/26/2018 "Just Keepin it Real"

Bueno!

Adventures of the week:
Contacting a lady at her door who doesnt speak english:
"No im going to bed, why yous out her so late? Im hanging up now"

-We were talking with our investigators about what happens when their is funerals in the united states vs. In mexico, and we are telling them about how when there is events in the church building it is free. The husband joined the conversation halfway through and he asks his son "what is happening" *all in spanish*, then his son goes "la capilla es gratis" (the church is free). We all died of laughter for about 5 minutes, it was a great sum up of the whole coversation I guess!

Thanksgiving- so much fun!! I love Holidays on the mission (: we went to our recent converts house (Avelina), then to a members house. The food was so good!! We helped Avelina cook a little bit, and long story short I thought their house was gonna burn down. The oven was smoking so bad! There whole apartment FILLED with smoke and the fire alarm went off for a good 20 mimutes. Hermana Page was in tears because the smoke burned so bad! But in the end everything turned out and as John woulds say "the turkey was SO juicy!" I love them so much!

-Avelina asked me to dye her hair, who wouldve know I would dye so many peoples hair during my mission!

-We had a lesson with la familia and we brought Obispos wife and daughters. Ahhh I love this family!!!!

-So bus life means our time schedule runs on the bus schedule, and if we miss a bus we get thrown back 20 minutes. Its the worst. I cant tell you how many times we have seen the bus coming and had to run as fast as we could to the bus stop. The other day we were on our way home and saw the bus coming, it was currently at the stop we wanted to get on, but there was no way we could cross the light and get to it, so I started running to the next stop! I wasnt about to freeze for another 20 minutes! As I was running my name tag fell of so Hermana Page shouts "dont worry I got you!" So I keep running in hopes I would beat the bus to the stop, then all of a sudden I hear Page yell "CUTLER!" And then hear the bus honking! The driver stopped for us, it was such a relief!! We got on and the bus driving is dying of laughter, she points to me and goes "You were about to leave her!". I guess it was a pretty funny sight to see!

-We had so many people at church this week, it was the best! The WHOLE family came!!! Hermana Page spoke and I played a special musical number with the senior missionaries. It went pretty well!

-Last pday we went downtown to the Christkindlemarket and it was so cute!!! Christmas cheer has hit the city of Chicago!

-Yesterday we were knocking trying to find some more people tp share a message with, and this guy answered and he goes "why are you two out here?! A big storms coming our way and is gonna hit at any time now!" We were like ohhh darn we didnt know... so yeah he was right and there was a snow storm, now Chicago is alllll white!

-ohh also I got a transfer call and im leaving Chi 5. Im so sad. But hey new adventure!
