The other day I was reading in a talk from the 2008 oct general conference by Thomas S. Monson, called "Finding Joy in the Journey". First off I highly recommend reading it, it changed my prospective on everything. A few quotes from it that I liked:
"Time never stands still; it must steadily march on, and with the marching come the changes."
"You pile up enough tomorrows, and you’ll find you’ve collected a lot of empty yesterdays.”
The main message was Find Joy in the Journey, everyday. The good, bad, inbetween. We will be doing a ton of finding here in Woodstock as there isnt a ton going on, but im trying to find Joy every single day. I want to be able to say I took advantage of my time and not waste what ive been given!
Sooo about my area. Woodstock. Think of a small Idaho town, and youve found Woodstock. I cant tell you how many different culture shocks I went through this week. Going from sketchy south side Chicago to living out in the middle of now where full of corn fields and nothing for miles. It is insanley beautiful but makes missionary work a whole lot intresting.
The English Ward:
Packed, so many members. Mainly farmers/ rich people who commute to the city everyday. Everyone is so tall compared to a hispanic ward, instead of me being there height I look up to them, like alot.
The Spanish Branch:
Its more like a group. There is actually more white people trying to speak spanish than spanish speakers. I take turns playing the Himnos with Hermana Pressley, but theres really nobody at church so its basically playing a solo. Seems like a humble ward....
The Missionaries:
I think we have a good group, its us and a set of Elders over both the ward and branch. There is tons of work to be done!
We put a hispanic guy on date this week though so that is exciting. He just needs to come to church... they dont typically get a ton of baptisms up here. A few in the ward, but none in the branch lately so we will see how that goes!
It should be good, itll be a hard yet good transfer!
My comp:
SO AMAZING I LOVE HER!!!!!!! She reminds me of my sister Tae personailty wise. She reminds me of me schedule wise, always having things planned out and always on the go! She is from Florida. Her dad is African American, and mom is from Greece! How cool!!
Anyways I love y'all lots and hope you have a wonderful week!!!
