5/30/2018 Small and Simple Things

Bueno!!!

Super great week here in Blue Island as always.

Highlights:

- We started biking this week, and I absolutely LOVE bike life!! Its really far to get anywhere from our flat but we've made it work. Elder Kuhns just gave us a bike rack at zone conference so we are excited to put that one to use and save on miles!

- Hermana Lozano (a member in our ward, and basically my second Mom) bought us some spray paint so we could fix up the bikes! Let me just say they look fresh!

- My companion stepped on baby bird eggs while tracting (not exactly a highlight, but she was sooo sad!)

- Every week our ward has activities in the park, last week we had a good match of volleyball, then soccer. Our recent converts dad, Ivan (who is currently taking the lessons) loves soccer and we got a big game going. Well apparently he thought I was a decent player so yesterday we go over for a cita and Ivan see me and goes off about how I should go play for the USA or a different country and play on their soccer team! Haha I died it was so funny! Now instead of "Hermana Cutler" they call me "Hermana Messi".

- On Memorial day we got invited to three different Carne Asadas, so we spent the whole day running back and forth from each. One of them was at Lake Michigan, and it was packed! Talk about a pachanga!! Our Investigator put on a big one and invited the whole ward, then a few groups over was the Midway ward, we went over to say hi and a family from Gurnee (my first area was there!), they practically tackled us down! It was so fun seeing them and catching up.

- Hermana McCrary and I taught at Zone Conference yesterday based off the talk "Love and Law" given by Elder Oaks in the October 2009 General Conference.

- Well its summer in Illinois, it is sooo hot! And we dont have AC... so enjoy your AC for me.

Scripture of the week:

"... by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Alma 37:6-7

We talked about this scripture a lot yesterday at Zone Conference, as missionaries sometimes we forget to do the small things. But as we refocus and do the small things that are asked of us then the great things we are promised will come.

A quote I recieved at the beginning on my mission and that I love talks about a small thing, it says:

“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter. If you can't do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.

And, if by chance you have a miserable day, you will come home to a bed that is made — that you made — and a made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better.

If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed.”

I love this so much because making your bed may seem like a small task, but it starts off your day right, completing the first task of the day. If you had a bad day well atleast you did one thing right!
I havent missed making my bed one day since reading this quote, and it may seem small but it makes a difference in my life. I even got my companion to do it too (:

Have a great week!
