¡Feliz día de las madres! (ayer)
It was a great week in Blue Island, and it was even greater to be able to talk to my family yesterday for mothers day. I love them so much but know this is where I need to be right now. I feel so blessed to have them in my life and for all the support they give me. I couldnt have asked for a better family!
A few weeks back we were teaching this guy named Phil (no he wasnt hispanic), he was very stubborn and tried convincing us that in order to be saved we just have to have faith, and no works. However, God asks us to do so many things like keep the commandments, pray, go to church, be baptized, etc. All those being "works". If you read James 2 in the New Testament, it tells us "faith without works is dead" then talks about the story of Abraham and how he had such great faith in God that he was willing to sacrifice his son (because God had asked him to.) Abraham demonstrated such great faith here, because he was willing to do what God asked him to do no matter the circumstance. As for us God doesnt ask us to sacrifice our children but he does ask us to do those simpler things such as pray to him. As we do this we are acting on our faith! We have been really focusing on this lately with some of our other investigators, and it has helped them so much!
The work is progressing!
Highlights:
- Our investigator Maria got a kitten! Cutest little guy. So now she has a kitten, ferrit, and a husky!
- We had a mothers day activity and we played Love is Spoken here with the youth.
- Planted a whole garden for service!
- Crashed Hermano Lozanos birthday party.
- Got to see our ward mission leaders new born baby at the hospital.
- Went to the Zoo last pday with the Hermanas!
- Got to talk to my Fam!!
Have a great week!
