2/13/2018 Chi-beria

Heyy Fam, I hope everyone had an amazing week!

Nilda has been doing amazing, we continue calling her and seeing her on pdays since she still doesnt live in our ward boundaries. The Elders in that area meet with her about once a week too so she can learn in person. She is such a trooper and has taught me so much these past few weeks, no matter what life throws at you things will be alright, especially with the Lord.
We always tell her "¡Sí, se puede!".

Satuday we had the BEST cita ever with a new investigator names Mirna Lina. Her story is super cool too, she was raised Catholic but doesnt believe in worhipping saints, so she left that church. Then for the past Six months (practically my whole mission so far) she was on bedrest due to a health problem. During this time she had a maid that was Mormon, who had shared a few thing about the Church. Well about 2 week ago she had surgery (cirugía) and since has had amazing health, being able to do the things she loves again! She decided it was time to go back to church! Well it turns out she had tried looking us up on google but could only find an English ward, and her maid went back to Guatamala, then she remembered she had a friend who she hasnt talked to in 5 years that was Mormon. She called them up, then they were able to get ahold of us. When we taught her the Restoration she had so many questions for us, it was amazing! Then after we explained it all she was like Wow that makes so much sense. At the end we explained what el Libro de Mormón is and had her read Moroni 10:4-5, for those of you who have seen the restoration film it was just like when Josephs dad was reading it after the book had been translated. Super cool, and powerful! Immedietly after she told us "Me encanta esta promesa, voy a leer todo este Libro!".

Nieve. So much nieve. We had a pretty big snow storm over the weekend, which resulted in church being cancelled. We were supposed to have stake conference with a general authority but sadly that didnt happen. So we decided to go to a Catholic Mass and check it out, ive gotta say they have some pretty cool stained glass windows!

Elder Wilford Anderson came for our mission tour (he was supposed to speak at our stake conference), it was such a good meeting and lasted about all day yesterday. We talked a ton about enduring to the end, working with members, and as well as being the missionaries the Lord needs us to be. My favorite quote was from President Bingham:

"In order to have mountain moving, Red sea parting, lions mouth stoping, fire burning Faith you HAVE to have mountain moving, Red sea parting, lions mouth stopping, fire burning Obedience." - President Evan Bingham

Story of the week:
So the people here have a tradition when it is someones birthday, to smash cake in their face... well Obispo missed being there for Hermana Marples birthday, and it was his wifes birthday so they had cake... well he plotted a plan with me to smash Hermanas Marple face into cake! It worked perfectly unitl... she got me back. Then the Elders got a quick picture... needless to say we were both sad we didnt get to eat our cake. #itsokaywesavedoncalories
