Wow it has been a wild few weeks up in Woodstock. Everyday seems to bring unexpected adventures. But it sure makes for intresting weeks!
So a few updates on some of the people we have been teaching:
Denise- She is seriously my favorite person ever, she uas such great desire to learn and read. We read 1 Nephi 3-4 with her this week and I have never seen someone get so into the scriptures. It was so fun to watch her understand and connect things together, then to apply it to her own life. This past wek she got a big bad of flour from the food pantry here in woodstock, when she opened it up she saw "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" written on the side. She was like "its holy flower!!" It was so funny. She says she runs into little stuff like this everywhere.
Dominico- Her and Akira are crazy as usual. Living busy busy lives. She has been in the city for the past few weeks and hasnt been at church which is sad, but we have had some really solid lessons and even located her to the nearest church where she stays at while she is down south side. We looked it up and there is a church 3 minutes from where she stays! All the past missionaries told her to go to the new 7 story church building in Chicago and she would get so frusturated because that was an hour by train away, so it was nice being able to clear that up for her.
Karyn- She is a new person we started teaching this week. Lets just say she is a legend. Her husband is Miguel and its so perfect for them to attend church in Woodstock because she speaks english so she attends classes in english then he speaks spanish and can attend classes in spanish. So its a win win for everyone (:
Jackie- The Elders told us to start teaching her and her husband. They are OBSESSED with Star Wars, they names their son Anikan. So if anyone knows how we can relate the gospel to Star Wars let us know!
José- Also legendary! We had an amazing lesson about the BOM last week with him. He even prayed to know it it was true while we were their. Itwas definetly a special lesson!
We have a few more we have been working with as well. The work is definetly progressing here!
"The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.”
Hope you all have a great week!
