12/26/2017¡Feliz Navidad!

¡Feliz Navidad!

Last week I got transfered to Blue Island and recieved my new companion Hermana Marple, she is from Northern California and has been out for about 15 months. She is super cool, and we are excited to do some amazing things here in Blue Island!

Friday we got an early Christmas present from President Bingham and we were all able to attend the temple (: It is so beautiful! I even got to see Hermana Page again my comp from the CCM.

Satuday our investigator invited us over to make tamales with her and her family. We spent like 3 hours making them! But it was tons of fun we were able to get to know them better and learn tons of spanish! They even turned on Christmas music and we sang along to Feliz Navidad with them. We did this this thing where we only speak spanish for an hour, then only speak english for an hour to help us learn spanish and then english. Whenever we would say "Okay" they would say "No okay. Esta bien", then when they would say okay we would correct them too, it was funny.

On Christmas eve (aka Noche Buena) it snowed!! We finally got our white Christmas (: We went out and cleared snow from cars and the sidewalks, just enjoying being out while it was snowing. Hispanics tend to celebrate Christmas on Noche Buena instead of the 25th. They party all day then at midnight open all their presents! We went over to our investigators house whom we made tamales with. Oh man the tamales turned out so good!!!

Navidad we had a big service project in the city, we woke up at 4am and helped make food bags/ presents for families. It was awesome to see little kids wake up so early christmas morning and wait even longer to open presents spending most the day doing service for those in need. Then after we went and sang to some investigators then I got to Skype my family back home!!! It was the best Christmas present ever (: Christmas on the mission is a ton of fun, I love getting to know how others spend Christmas and what their traditions are. Plus everyone is focused on Christ during this time.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
